Board member Desiree Herrera from the Make-a-Wish Foundation Saipan chapter said on Friday they needed 720,000 miles for the Airline Mileage Drive.
“I am very happy with the response of the public through the turnout of mileage donations,” Herrera said. The donated miles will be used to transport three children and their families to visit their dream places in the U.S.
She said the minimum miles for donation is 2,000 and the maximum is 60,000. If a donor wants to give more than the maximum, Herrera said they can make special arrangements. She said Continental Airlines waived the fees for transferring miles for the campaign. Donors can still continue transferring miles for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Herrera said left-over miles will be used to make the wishes of other children come true.
As an incentive, donors who transferred miles to the campaign enjoyed a 20 percent discount on all Hard Rock Café 2011 menu items.
Hard Rock Café Saipan operations head Rey Perez said the mileage campaign was also held at Hard Rock Café Guam in time for the World Wish Day on Friday.
Hard Rock Café Saipan also launched the Ringo Starr signature series promotion on Friday.
Perez said 15 percent from the sales of limited-edition Ringo Starr Signature Series t-shirts designed by the legendary rock start himself, featuring his own original artwork will be donated to Starr’s charity — the Lotus Foundation — to directly benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Founded in 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted over 250,000 wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions worldwide. In 2010, the foundation granted the wishes of over 20,000 children in the U.S. and five continents.
Hard Rock Café Saipan is one of the 170 venues of Hard Rock International in 51 countries, including 133 cafes and 15 hotels/casinos. Perez said it is their first time to partner with the Make-a-Wish Foundation to fulfill the wishes of children on Saipan.
As one of the world’s most globally recognized brands, Hard Rock International has 170 venues in 51 countries, including 133 cafes and 15 hotels/casinos.
