He will again run for governor of American Samoa in the 2012 election.
He has yet to inform the CNMI governor if he has any person to recommend to fill his post.
His contract, he added, stipulates a three-month notice to resign.
Based on the federal stipulated orders, CUC must appoint another qualified executive director within 150 days from the date of vacancy.
Earlier, Press Secretary Angel Demapan said as soon as Malae tenders his resignation, the administration will work with CUC to ensure that all requirements are met and that a proper transition is effectuated so as not to disrupt the services of CUC.
The former executive director of the American Samoa Power Authority, Malae was appointed by Gov. Benigno R. Fitial on Oct. 29, 2010 as CUC executive director. He succeeded Antonio Muna.
