A MAN allegedly threatened to stab his common law wife with a knife during an argument over money in Chalan Kiya on Thursday afternoon.
Efren Tenorio Maralit, 43, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace.
A 12-inch stainless steel knife was confiscated as evidence, according to the Department of Public Safety’s spokesman, Police Lt. Pete C. Muna.
Muna said the victim told the police that prior to the incident, she and Maralit went to Dial-Rent-To-Own to pay a loan.
The victim asked Maralit what happened to the money she gave him to pay their utility bills.
Maralit said he did not know, triggering the argument.
At the traffic light intersection in Chalan Kiya, the suspect allegedly swung the knife in front of the victim.
According to the victim, Maralit said he would kill her.
The victim and her son then flagged down a police officer who was passing by the area.
