Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo remanded Fernandez, 41, to the custody of the Department of Corrections when he failed to post $200 cash bail after his initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday.
Govendo required Fernandez to post 10 percent of the $2,000 bail, and the remainder $1,800 as unsecured bond.
Fernandez is being held on charges of disturbing the peace, assault and battery, and criminal mischief.
Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan said Pedro Babauta Camacho called for police assistance at his residence, west of the San Roque church, at about 3 a.m., Saturday.
Camacho told police he was awakened at about 2:30 a.m. by his daughter Daisie Camacho who told him that she and Fernandez, her boyfriend, were having a problem and that the defendant damaged her car.
Mr. Camacho said he saw Fernandez pull into their garage, and saw the driver’s window of his daughter’s car damaged.
Fernandez came out of the car, threw his betelnut bag, walked over to Ms. Camacho, and started yelling at her, police said.
Fernandez also punched the car’s windshield until it cracked, police added.
“After [Fernandez] cracked [the windshield] he walked over to Daisie and grabbed her arm causing a scratched mark on her right upper arm,” police said.
Fernandez also pushed Mr. Camacho on the chest, yelling: “What? You want to fight? I will kill you,” police said.
Mr. Camacho and his daughter tried to calm Fernandez down, but to no avail. They decided to call the police.
While being handcuffed, Fernandez challenged responding Officer Raymond Borja to a fight, police said.
