POLICE arrested Peter John Aldan Blas for assaulting his brother during an argument about a tattoo machine.
Blas, 33, appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho on Monday for a bail hearing.
Blas was charged with assault, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief, disturbing the peace, and domestic violence.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Blas while Assistant Attorney General David Karch appeared for the government.
Judge Camacho imposed a $15,000 cash bail on Blas and remanded him to the custody of the Department of Corrections. Blas was ordered to return to court on March 20 at 10 a.m. for a preliminary hearing, and on April 1 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.
The complaint
According to the complaint against Blas, on March 7, at around 8:06 a.m., police dispatch received a call regarding a disturbance in Kagman.
Responding police officers met with the caller who said he got into a fight with his brother, Blas.
The complainant stated that Blas wanted to borrow a tattoo machine, saying that he, Blas, was going to give his friend a tattoo.
Before the complainant could say yes, Blas had already taken the tattoo machine and put it in his vehicle.
The complainant told Blas he could borrow the machine but must return it or he would call the police.
Blas responded that he could take the tattoo machine and if anything was missing then it was missing. He said the complainant got the tattoo machine for free anyway.
The complainant then asked for the tattoo machine back or he would call the police.
According to the complainant, Blas got mad and approached him while asking him if he, the complainant, wanted a fight.
The complainant said Blas grabbed him, the complainant, and put him in a head lock. He said Blas punched him more than three times on the right side of his body up to his chest area. While in a head lock, the complainant said he punched Blas on his head multiple times and managed to push Blas out of the house.
When the complainant saw Blas picking up a pickaxe in the garage, he closed the main wooden door of the residence.
Blas then swung the pickaxe toward the door, hitting it and making a hole. The complainant was still behind the door holding it and trying to lock it to prevent Blas from entering the house. The complainant said he saw the end of the pickaxe go through the door and almost hit his face.
The complainant said he told Blas that he would call the police.
The mother of the complainant, for her part, told police that Blas was high on methamphetamine and tried to talk to her on the day of the incident.
She told Blas that she didn’t want to talk to him. She said Blas told her that “pretty soon,” he would kill all of them residing in the house.
The mother told police that Blas would usually threaten to kill all of them whenever he was upset.
She said she was not home when her sons fought, but she arrived when Blas was about to leave in his vehicle.
She told Blas to give back the tattoo machine. Blas then took the tattoo machine out of his car and put it on a chair by the front door and left the residence.
