Man arrested for assaulting partner

Brandon Camacho Wanket, who was arrested on June 22, 2011, appeared before Superior Court Judge Kenneth L. Govendo for his initial appearance and bail hearing on Friday.

Govendo allowed Wanket to post $225, or 10 percent of the $2,250 bail order, and the $2,025 balance as unsecured or appearance bond.

Wanket was held on charges of disturbing the peace, assault and battery, and resisting arrest.

Govendo quashed Wanket’s bench warrant for a separate traffic case.

Assistant Attorney General Russel Lorfing represented the government, while Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller was appointed as Wanket’s counsel.

In her affidavit of probable cause, Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan told the court that on June 22, police were dispatched at about 4:48 a.m. to reported disturbance incident in Upper Miha.

Responding police officers saw the victim crying in the  driveway. The victim said Wanket pulled her hair which caused her to fall to the ground.

Prior to the incident, police said Wanket and his friends were drinking beer, when the defendant told his partner that he wanted to go out at 1:20 a.m. The victim told Wanket not  to leave, to no avail.

Wanket later arrived home, banging the door. The victim told the defendant to leave which angered Wanket.

As the victim was gathering the defendant’s belongings, Wanket cut the air-conditioning power cord.

When the victim went out of the house to call for police assistance, she said Wanket pulled her hair from behind, causing her to fall.

Police found Wanket sitting near tall grass and was uncooperative when officers started to put handcuffs on him.
