Man arrested for assaulting wife

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo imposed a $5,000 bail on Haque Ziaul who was required to post 10 percent of the amount, or $500.

Ziaul is being held on charges of disturbing the peace, assault with a dangerous weapon, and criminal mischief.

Govendo granted the motion to provide a translator for Ziaul who was represented by Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig.

Assistant Attorney General Brian Gallagher represented the government.

Ziaul was directed to attend his arraignment on May 3, 2010. He was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

In his affidavit, Detective Roque Camacho said Ziaul accused his wife of having an affair.

The defendant drank beer when he came back home at their house in Koblerville, while the victim was preparing their food.

Ziaul threw a plate at his victim who caught it. He  grabbed it from the victim and threatened to hit her with the plate.

The victim then pulled Ziaul’s hair after he threatened to beat her up.

The victim told the defendant to leave the house and that she would call the police.

Hours later, Police Officer Jesse Cepeda arrested Ziaul after the defendant exited an Internet game room at the Afetna building in San Antonio.
