Superior Court Presiding Judge Ramona Manglona also imposed a $10,000 bail on Karibul Islam Molla whose travel documents were confiscated.
Charges of disturbing the peace and senior citizen physical abuse and/or mental cruelty were filed against Molla, according to Barbara K. Arend of the Tinian Domestic Violence Unit in her declaration of probable cause in support of the issuance of an arrest warrant.
She said investigation showed that Molla punched, stepped on mid-chest, slapped and pushed the victim on the night of Sept. 3.
The victim said “she was very traumatized by the fact that Molla stepped on her chest while she was lying on the ground,” Arend stated in her affidavit.
The officer said the victim complained of pain in her left shoulder and on the right side of her head where Molla had slapped and punched her.
The victim was brought to the Tinian Health Center.
Medical examination showed multiple abrasions on both knees and both lower legs; had tenderness on the rights side of her head; swelling and pain in the nape area and a bruise on the right side of her inner lower lip.
The victim told the police that Molla was drinking alcohol prior to the incident.
She said in 2006, Molla beat her up after she broke up with him.
She told police she asked the case to be dropped because she loved Molla and didn’t want him to go to jail.
