Man arrested for domestic violence

LUCKY Michael Chipuelong has been arrested for slapping his girlfriend multiple times during an argument.

Chipuelong, 36, was charged with assault and battery, disturbing the peace, to include domestic violence.

At a bail hearing on Tuesday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $3,000 cash bail on Chipuelong, who was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections. He was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m., and for an arraignment on Sept. 25 at 9 a.m.

Chipuelong was represented by Assistant Public Defender Karie Comstock, while Chief Prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.

According to the complaint against Chipuelong, his girlfriend told police that she and the defendant started arguing on Sept. 4, because she asked him to get a hose from his mother’s house so that she could make her daughter shower.

She said Chipuelong called her stupid for not wanting to go to his mother’s house.

She said Chipuelong also pulled her by her shirt, causing her to fall back onto the bed next to him.

She said she hit Chipuelong on his right side so he would let go of her, which caused him to get angrier. He then started slapping her on the face multiple times, she added.

She said she tried to defend herself and they both ended up on the floor between two beds.

Chipuelong climbed on top of her and continued to slap her face, she said.

She said she could not remember if Chipuelong punched her, but it was not until she stopped fighting back and let him hit her that he stopped and got off of her.

She said she took her two children and walked to a nearby hair salon where she started yelling for help.

Before the police arrived, she said she and her two children walked back to the residence to collect their belongings.

Chipuelong who was at her mother’s house, walked back to his house when he saw them and started yelling at her again. She said she started slapping her face again multiple times in front of her children.

She said Chipuelong’s mother was there as well and witnessed the incident but did not do anything to help her.

The victim said she let him hit her until he stopped. She then grabbed her phone and bag and walked out with her children. She said as she was walking, she felt dizzy, as if she was going to faint.

That’s when a police vehicle spotted her walking with her two minor children. The officer observed redness and bruising on both sides of her face as well as swelling on her forehead and eyes.

The officer said the victim pointed toward the street she was walking from and explained that her boyfriend hit her, and she was trying to get away from him.
