Rufino Masga Mendiola, while holding a machete, also threatened to kill the victims, police said.
Mendiola was arrested on the charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and misuse of government vehicle based on the complaint of his daughter.
Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman imposed a $15,000 cash bail on Mendiola.
While in the custody of the Department of Corrections, Mendiola was again served with an arrest order, this time on the charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace of his daughter’s female friend.
For the second case, Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo required Mendiola to post a $15,000 cash bail.
According to Officer Barbara K. Arend, Tinian DPS responded on June 18, 2010 to Mendiola’s residence as requested by the defendant’s wife at about 9:30 p.m.
Investigation disclosed that the defendant’s daughter confronted her father for sexually harassing her female friend.
An argument ensured between Mendiola and his daughter.
Mendiola threw a rock but missed. He then threw a mobile phone which hit the back of the head of his daughter, police said.
The defendant, while holding the victim’s hair, punched his daughter on her cheek, police added.
Police interviewed the victim’s female friend who said that Mendiola tried to kiss her while she was outside the victim’s house.
“[Defendant] Rufino came and asked the [female friend of his daughter] if she was ready to show the world that they were going to be together,” Arend stated.
Mendiola earlier confronted the victims, holding a machete, and threatened to kill them, police said.
Mendiola escaped on board a DPW truck. He was arrested when he was about to come out of the DPW building.
Police noticed a strong odor of alcohol from Mendiola.
