Manglona sentenced Sandy Bernardo Quemado, 43, with six months imprisonment, all suspended except for the first 30 days, and another year, all suspended except for three days.
The period of unsuspended sentences will run consecutively, the court said.
The court did not immediately set a reporting schedule for Quemado in order to consider his anticipated written motion to stay imposition of sentence, Manglona ruled.
Quemado made an oral motion to stay imposition of sentence but was denied by the court without prejudice.
The defendant was ordered to pay $100 fine for reckless driving, and $500 for DUI.
The defendant’s driver’s license is suspended for 30 days, and will be suspended with limited exceptions for a period of five months thereafter, the court said.
Upon release from prison, Quemado is placed on 18 months probation, perform 100 hours of community service, attend an alcohol information class and pay $100 tuition to Catholic Social Services, a $100 probation fee, and a $25 court assessment fee within 30 days.
On Aug. 30, 2009, Quemado was operating a pick-up truck that collided with another vehicle operated by Maria Aguon who suffered bruises and cut, the prosecution said.
The crash occurred in Koblerville near Han Nam Market, police said.
After a bench trial, Quemado was convicted as charged.
Assistant Attorney General Eileen Escudero-Wisor prosecuted the case, while Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller served as counsel for Quemado.
