Associate Judge Ramona A. Manglona at the same time placed Kim Young Cheon on one-year probation after his release from jail on March 2.
But if he departs the CNMI, his probation will be terminated within 30 days of his release from the Department of Corrections.
The defendant, who was represented by attorney Robert T. Torres, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol on Dec. 3, 2009.
He sustained serious injuries, but his wife Young Kyung Lee died from whiplash injury and crushed chest after the vehicle the defendant was driving smashed into a concrete fence of a residential compound in Oleai.
