Man in ‘ice’ case gets 6-month jail

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson placed Tian Yun Huang under the custody of the federal Bureau of Prisons on Tuesday.

According to Munson, after completing the six-month imprisonment, Tian Yun Huang will serve a term of supervised release of three years under many conditions.

The conditions include deportation proceedings by a duly authorized immigration official.

Tian Yun Huang, moreover, “shall not commit another federal, local or state crime and shall not unlawfully possess or use a controlled substance. He is also required to submit to one drug test within 15 days of his release from imprisonment and two periodic drug tests thereafter, but not to exceed eight tests per month as directed by the U.S. probation officer.”

Tian Yun Huang  will likewise participate in a treatment program for substance abuse, seek and maintain gainful employment, and perform 200 hours of community service under the direction of the U.S. Probation Office.

Munson also directed Tian Yun Huang to pay a $300 special assessment fee after the sentencing.

Last March, Tian Yun Huang, with his court-appointed counsel Steven Pixley, signed a plea agreement with the federal government.

Huang was charged for selling “ice” from his residence in San Jose, Tinian on Jan. 9 and on June 10, 2008, selling a total of .39 grams of “ice” in three transactions.
