Man in sexual abuse of a minor case to change plea

Langu was charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree for incidents that occurred sometime in 2001 and 2002.

Langu’s victim was his then-eight-year-old stepdaughter.

The court imposed a $100,000 bail on Langu who has been detained since April 2011.

Langu was earlier charged with criminal mischief and disturbing the peace, when he broke the sliding window of the victim’s apartment on or about March 27, 2011.

On March 30, the school reported about the sexual abuse to the police.

The victim told authorities she was first sexually molested by Langu when she was in the third grade.

She said she was asleep in their house when Langu began touching her inappropriately.

The victim said Langu sexually molested her throughout the years.

She said Langu would even touch her in the presence of her mother and brother who were sleeping with her in the same bed.

In the signed plea agreement, Langu agrees to be sentenced to a term of 30 years’ imprisonment, all suspended, except for eight years.

The AGO’s victim/witness advocate has yet to sign the plea agreement.

Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig is representing Langu.

Former Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Petersburg signed the plea agreement.
