Man on probation for theft, rearrested for burglary

The 15-year-old girlfriend of Arthur Thomas Ramangmau Rauepi told police she received a mobile phone and $35 cash from the defendant on Dec. 8, 2010.

The juvenile said Rauepi was at her residence in As Denni Hill, Santa Lourdes, but ran away after Traffic Investigator Norris Kwon and Detective Melissa Bauleong arrived to interview the girlfriend.

Police said that on Dec. 10, 2010, when Detective Jeffrey Norita interviewed him at the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s office, Rauepi confessed to committing burglary and theft at the residence of Leslieann E. Sablan in Kagman II.

On Nov. 25, 2010, Sablan reported to police that she lost one white-gold ring with a 2.5 karat diamond worth $3,000, two sets of white-gold earrings, and other valuables.

Rauepi told police he pushed in Sablan’s air-conditioning unit to gain entry to the children’s bedroom.

Sablan positively identified a baseball cap and mobile phone recovered from Rauepi.

During his initial appearance in Superior Court, Rauepi’s cash bail was set by Judge Kenneth Govendo at $10,000.

The judge then remanded Rauepi to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Last June, Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona sentenced Rauepi to five years imprisonment, all suspended, except for four months, with credit for four months he had already served.

The court dismissed with prejudice the remaining charges against Rauepi.

On May 31, 2009, the prosecution said, Rauepi burglarized Dr. Calistro Camacho Cabrera’s house in Susupe, stealing a car, $23 cash, as well as house and car keys.

Manglona placed Rauepi on probation for five years under the direction and supervision of the Adult Probation Office.

He will perform 150 hours of community work service, write a letter of apology to Cabrera, and obey all CNMI and federal laws as well as the rules of the Adult Probation Office.
