Manamko’ center to submit financial records to OPA

She was asked to comment on a letter from  Rep. Joseph M. Palacios, R-Saipan, alleging the misuse of government vehicles and federal funds at the manamko’ center.

“I have really nothing to say right now. We are just compiling all our documents if they ask for the report. All matters regarding the issue will now be handled by [Department of Community and Cultural Affairs] Secretary Melvin Faisao,” said Mondala.

Palacios has asked OPA to conduct a full audit of the Aging Office that covers September  to December 15, 2009. 

Palacios, in his letter to the public auditor on February 4, said he received information about the alleged misuse of government vehicles and federal funds at the Aging Office.

He said manamko’ center clients alleged that purchased items such as cooking ingredients, propane gas, fruits, vegetables, meat products and beverages were used, cooked, and served at political campaign rallies.

The CNMI held its general elections on Nov. 7 and a gubernatorial runoff on Nov. 23.
