March Against Cancer scheduled for May

The 2008 MMAC was able to raise over $71,000 and we are hoping to raise even more funds this year as the battle against cancer intensifies.

If any individual, company or organization is interested in forming a team, becoming a sponsor, volunteering in the 2009 MMAC Committee or participating in any way possible, contact Reina Camacho at [email protected], Chris A. Concepcion at [email protected], Catherine Attao at [email protected] or the 2009 Overall MMAC Chairman David Rosario at [email protected].

You may also contact Joanne Ogo at 236-8728 or [email protected].

The 2009 MMAC Committee would like to congratulate the following teams for submitting their payments: Bodig, Marriage Encounter, Grace Christian Academy, Take Care/FHP, IT&E/Saipan Southern High School, TSA Guardians, Pacific Islands Club, Marianas Health Services and Bank of Guam/Garapan Elementary School.

All teams are reminded that the deadline to submit registration requirements is Friday, April 24.

The MMAC Committee is encouraging the general public to help support team efforts in raising funds for the battle against cancer by purchasing Delta/Northwest Airlines raffle tickets for only $5 each.

Prizes up for grabs include a round trip ticket to the U.S., a round trip ticket to Asia plus other great prizes from the world’s largest airline — Delta/Northwest Airlines.  MMAC teams will be holding other fundraising events so please support the fight against cancer by supporting one or more of your favorite teams.

At the 2009 MMAC, teams will be competing for the best baton, most team spirit, best tent design, most money raised, most laps run, most luminaries sold, among other things.

There are four categories in which teams will compete: Puti’on (corporate), Pulan (family), Atdao (NGO/government) and Napu (school).

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the Northern Marianas and the 2009 MMAC Committee is inviting the entire community to help support their efforts in raising much needed funds for the battle against cancer.

All funds raised are applied locally.
