Third Annual Palau Dog Show in May

The show is for regular dogs from our neighborhoods in Palau. Dogs that compete in the various events don’t have to be purebreds or fancy dogs. In fact, most of the dogs who win cash and prizes are picked because of some unique characteristic like a funny tail or a good costume.

The show is intended to be a fun yet educational event to promote health issues. The event will focus on the importance of vaccinations and on controlling the overpopulation of dogs. People who work at the Koror State Animal Shelter and Veterinary Clinic will offer information about clinic hours and the services they provide. The Dog Show will have 9 competition categories consisting of best smile, most interesting ears, most interesting tail, best big dog, best small dog, happiest dog/most wagging tail, dog and owner look-alike costume contest, dog and owner obstacle race, and best trick. All dogs competing in the show must wear a dog collar and be kept on a leash at all times. Aggressive dogs may not participate.Every participant in the show will get a free T-shirt, and the top three winners of every category will win cash and great prizes.Participation in the event is free, but pre-registration is required.
