Newly installed MIFICPA president Melvin Malvar of Tropex Garden Co. Ltd. said the group conducted a simple ceremony due to economic reasons.
But each member, he added, is determined to “advance their profession amid the many challenges of the past and coming years.”
He challenges all Filipino CPAs and accountants to participate in MIFICPA’s activities and learn the changing trends of their profession.
He said they continue to strengthen their organization’s mission which is to enhance the integrity of the accountancy profession, to serve the best interest of its members, and to join community-oriented voluntary efforts.
“These can be achieved through a responsive organizational structure, committed leadership, effective professional developmental programs abreast with strict implementation of professional ethics, the promotion of high standards of accounting education, and advocacy of and participation in relevant professional issues,” Malvar said.
MIFICPA is a duly registered non-profit professional organization in the CNMI.
Philippine Consul General Wilfredo D.L. Maximo swore in MIFICPA’s 2009 officers and directors.
Eli Arago, senior vice president of Tan Holdings Corp., delivered the keynote address that reflected the theme, “MIFICPA: Upholding Professionalism, Commitment and Service.”
Inducted besides Malvar were Rene Cariaso of Century Insurance, vice president for external affairs; Robert Reyes, Century Insurance, vice president for internal affairs; Aileen Indinom Grant Thornton LLP, secretary; Donna Paleracio, Joeten Enterprises, assistant secretary; Ronel Calma, Car Quest, treasurer; Christy Villaflor, Fiesta Resort and Spa, assistant treasurer; Bebilyn Estrada, Century Insurance, auditor; Nolito Santos, Marpac, business manager; Marlon Estigoy, Hafadai Beach Hotel, public relations officer.
The board members are Irene Santiago of Shirley’s Coffee Shop, Eloisa Manese of Joeten Ace Hardware, Aileen Javier of Hardt Eye Clinic, Marie Luisa Taniegra of RNV Construction, and Jhocelyn Doreza of Burger & Comer PC CPA.
