Marshall is new NMI postmaster

Frank Santos, USPS Honolulu acting district manager , administered the oath.

Leo Tudela, Asia-Pacific relations global business director USPS Honolulu/Washington D.C., said  Marshall has been with the postal service for 17 years now.

Marshall  started her postal career as a rural carrier in Dillon, Montana.

She became a part-time, flexible clerk and carrier for several years before getting her first postmaster position in Crow Agency, Montana.

After three years, Marshall became postmaster of Roundup, Montana, followed by Hardin, Montana and then Hereford, Arizona.

“Amy is ecstatic about her new position. She loves the island and the employees. She makes new acquaintances daily with customers and the community through her day to day activities. She especially loves the farmers market,” Tudela said.

In an interview, Marshall said the USPS here will be adding 300 post office boxes.

Boxes that were closed will be reissued to other applicants, she added.

“The customers here are very patient,” she said, referring to the long line of customers claiming and sending packages at post office in Chalan Kanoa.

Currently, the USPS on Saipan has  three stations only.

Regarding lost packages, she said they will resolve this issue to the best of their ability.

Jacqueline Camacho, the former officer-in-charge for USPS Saipan, welcomes the leadership of Marshall.

Whenever Marshall is off-island, Camacho will act as officer-in-charge.

As a current sales service assistant, Camacho said she still “needs to climb the ladder” before she can be a postmaster.

She has already attended  training and seminars to prepare her for the position.
