The mayor’s executive secretary Vinycia Seman said are also looking for 10 local students who will travel to Japan as part of the exchange program.
“Some have already expressed interest to join but they have not returned their applications,” she said.
The mayor’s office has been coordinating the cultural exchange program with the International Youth Association of Japan, or KSKK,
Last July, nine students with KSKK visited Saipan.
For the November visit, Seman said they are still looking for more local families willing to host Japanese students.
The students are with the Saipan Business Language Institute exchange program and they will be on island from Nov. 9 to 14.
Seman said hosting exchange students is a rewarding and educational experience for all family members.
Each family that hosts two students will get $140 from the Saipan Business Language Institute.
