Woman arrested for possession and carrying of firearm

Sambile was arrested on Tuesday night for carrying the police-issued firearm of his partner.

She was brought to the court for her initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday.

Judge David A. Wiseman allowed Sambile to post as property bond the remaining $9,000 of the bail amount.

She was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.

The court directed Sambile not to consume any alcohol “at all,” and to stay away from her victim, Traffic Officer Josef P. Deleon Guerrero, who is the defendant’s partner, Traffic Officer Norris Kwon, and other potential witnesses.

Assistant Attorney General Russel Lorfing represented the government.

The court found that Sambile was not eligible for a court-appointed attorney, and should hire for her own defense counsel.

Detective Peter Aldan said on July 31, 2011, at about 2:25 a.m., Sambile contacted and informed a police officer that she was in a domestic dispute with her live-in partner at their residence in As Perdido.

“After reviewing the report and witnesses statement, I find that Jenypy N. Sambile was the initial aggressor,” Aldan told the court.

On July 30, at about 6:30 p.m., Kwon texted Sambile and inquired if they would be attending their friend’s birthday party.

Sambile responded and told Kwon to pick up Deleon Guerrero at her residence so they could “car pool” to the party.

Sambile said she would meet up with them later because she had to attend a fundraiser.

At about 11 p.m., Sambile texted Kwon, and told him they would meet at GIG Disco Club.

Shortly after midnight, Kwon saw Sambile and Deleon Guerrero arguing. Kwon pacified the two.

Afterward, Kwon saw Sambile leaving in her vehicle. Deleon Guerrero joined him, and they proceeded to another club.

Sambile called Deleon Guerrero through Kwon’s mobile phone, and they argued.

Kwon later received a text message from Sambile threatening to break Deleon Guerrero’s car.

Sambile also told Kwon that she had Deleon Guerrero’s service firearm.

Deleon Guerrero and Kwon left the club and proceeded to Sambile’s residence in As Perdido.

At about 2:50 a.m., July 31, Deleon Guerrero and Kwon saw Sambile sitting at a picnic table in front of her residence, while holding Deleon Guerrero’s service firearm.

Sambile approached the officers’ vehicle with the 9mm pistol in her right hand, Aldan said.

Deleon Guerrero tried to block Sambile from further approaching Kwon’s vehicle, and tried to grab the gun from Sambile.

Deleon Guerrero and Sambile struggled and shouted at each other.

The defendant’s father rushed out after hearing the commotion.

Kwon saw Sambile attempting to slap Deleon Guerrero but dodged it, Aldan said.

The two continued to struggle, with Deleon Guerrero grabbing Sambile’s neck, Aldan said.

The defendant’s father eventually secured the gun.

On Aug. 2,  Aldan said he interviewed Deleon Guerrero who explained that Sambile found his firearm in a storage bin.

Deleon Guerrero said Sambile thought there were girls inside Kwon’s truck, when she approached it while holding the gun

In 2008, Sambile, then 19, was charged with one count of assault and battery.

Sambile struck and slapped Deleon Guerrero on July 8, 2007, the Attorney General’s Office stated.

Sambile was also charged with one count of criminal mischief for shattering the glass window and causing damage to the headlight and windshield of Deleon Guerrero’s car on the same day, the AGO added.

It was not immediately known how the case was disposed.
