Under the agreement, the mayor’s office will provide Hawaiian Rock boulders from the quarry site in Kanat Tabla.
Flores said the Department of Public Lands has given the mayor’s office a concession to quarry in the area.
In return, Hawaiian Rock will provide the mayor’s office coral aggregates that will be used to fill up some unpaved roads, he said.
The government intends to pave these roads in the future, he added.
Hawaiian Rock will transport the aggregates, provide the driver as well as the fuel of the equipment, the mayor said.
“Nothing will happen if we don’t enter into this kind of an agreement because the mayor’s office does not have sufficient equipment,” he said.
Flores said his office has been getting several requests for road maintenance.
He said his office has an ongoing road project in Gualo Rai and “more requests are flooding our office every day.”
