Gov, Benigno R. Fitial designated Megarr to take charge of CUC while Executive Director Antonio Muna is off-island.
“During his absence [Muna], I am appointing Mr. Bruce Meggar, as acting executive director, until his return. Please extend your full cooperation and assistance to Mr. Megarr as he assumes these additional responsibilities,” the governor’s memorandum states.
Muna effectively went on leave yesterday and will return on April 14.
CUC is supposed to be an autonomous government agency, but it remains under the administration’s control since Aug. 2008 by virtue of an executive order placing the CNMI under a state of emergency disaster declaration.
