Officials of the Department of Public Works (DPW), Northern Marianas Housing Corporation (NMHC), the Zoning Office and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) briefed yesterday the Municipal Council about the proposed memorial courtyard.
The courtyard will be developed as a Leadership Memorial Park that will highlight and recognize the accomplishments of indigenous leaders of the CNMI.
During the meeting, the officials agreed to hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the project on Sept. 4.
All local leaders of the CNMI, including those whose tenure had expired, will be invited to attend the historic groundbreaking ceremony.
The Saipan Municipal Council said the ceremony is open to the public, adding, they will collaborate with the Department of Public Safety to ensure smooth traffic flow in the nearby area where the project will be built.
