MOBIL Oil Marianas on Wednesday reduced its gas prices by 10 cents, but raised its diesel price by 5 cents.

Mobil Oil’s regular gas price went down to $5.66 a gallon from $5.76 a gallon and premium gas price to $6.11 a gallon from $6.21 a gallon.  The diesel price went up to $6.23 a gallon from $6.18 a gallon.

Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit.

Tinian Fuel Services’ regular gas price was $7.61 a gallon while the diesel price was $8.09 a gallon as of 5 p.m. Wednesday.

On Rota, Calvo Enterprise’s regular gas price was $7.24 a gallon while the diesel price was $10.27 a gallon.

Marife Anulao, a waitress, said the price of gas has a big impact on her budget. She drives from As Lito to Chalan Kanoa where she works, so when the gas price went up a few weeks ago, she had to spend about $40 for gas.

But she said it’s worse for her co-workers who drive from Kagman.

She is glad that the price of gas finally went down instead of going up again.

Reuters has reported that oil prices “settled nearly 1% higher on Tuesday, rebounding from a slump to a two-week low in early trading as expectations of tighter supply outweighed worries that an uncertain economic outlook would crimp demand…. On Monday, Russia softened its gasoline and diesel export ban. Exports of products already accepted by Russian Railways and Transneft can go ahead, while higher-sulphur gasoil and fuel used for bunkering will be exempt from the ban.”

However, oil supply “remains tight as Russia and Saudi Arabia have extended production cuts to the end of the year.”
