PUMP prices of Saipan’s fuel products have gone up again by as much as 3 cents per gallon.
Mobil Oil Mariana Islands’ latest fuel price hike took effect on Friday, while Shell Marianas followed on Saturday, barely two weeks after the last pump price increases.
Since the middle of March, Saipan’s fuel prices have already increased by up to 14 cents per gallon.
Mobil and Shell said the continued higher fuel product costs in the Singapore regional market, coupled with firmer pricing policy and the growing fuel demand, led to the price increase.
Regular unleaded gasoline at Mobil and Shell now costs $2.089 per gallon.
Super or premium unleaded gasoline is $2.179 per gallon, a 3 cents increase from the previous $2.149.
Diesel gasoline at Mobil and Shell went up by 2 cents, or from $2.109 to $2.129 per gallon.
Bernadette Valencia, Mobil Oil Guam’s retail manager, said they will continue to monitor regional prices and the impact to the landed cost.
“In the last several weeks, we have seen prices increase, impacting our landed cost. This increase continues to impact local gasoline prices,” Valencia told Variety.
Both companies expect that prices will go down.
