Salvation Army ministry leader Wayne Gillespie said the soup kitchen is open every Saturday and has been accommodating and feeding people who are hungry and need food.
“We are happy to note a steady stream of individuals and families who come in each Saturday for hot meals,” Gillespie said.
He said the number of clients each Saturday usually range from more than 30 to over 50 individuals.
The Salvation Army soup kitchen is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday on the second floor of the Salvation Army headquarters. The place can accommodate up to 50 individuals at a time.
The Salvation Army relies on donations from the community for its various outreach programs.
Gillespie said community members can continue giving donations of canned goods and non-perishable items which the organization gives back to families and individuals who are in need of food.
Last June, the Salvation Army received canned goods and non-perishable food items as donations from generous individuals who joined the inaugural Salvation Army Food Bank 5k run/walk from the Salvation Army headquarters past the Pacific Islands Club and back.
