Many have participated in golf, softball and pool events in preparation for the upcoming annual friendly competition with the senior citizens from Rota and Tinian.
“There were many new players for this year,” Manglona said.
May is Older Americans Month, and a golf championship will be held among the manamko’ of the three main CNMI islands.
The Rota team has already confirmed its participation but Tinian has yet to commit because of “transportation constraint,” Manglona said.
The Saipan team, led by Jose Torres in the men’s category, is the defending champion.
For the women’s category, Saipan is led by Paula Mereb and Sitae Terry.
The golf championship will be held at American Memorial Park on May 14.
Juan “Manny” San Nicolas, aging office special adviser, and Manglona are the golf coaches.
On May 7, Manglona said the two softball teams of the Saipan manamko’ will play their rematch at Micro Beach in Garapan.
