Task force chairman, Police Sgt. Ben Sablan yesterday said the two villages need more attention.
“We need as many as four to six block captains in these villages,” said Sablan, who was a guest at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Palms Resort.
He said they now are organizing foot patrol units.
“The Neighborhood Task Force involves getting to know your neighbors so you can ask each other to look after your house if you leave home,” Sablan said.
“It’s important that we get to know our neighbors because you may see them packing their things and leaving the house, only to discover later that those were not your neighbors but robbers,” he added.
Sablan also encouraged residents to leave their lights on outside their houses from midnight until the early morning.
The Neighborhood Task Force had already been organized in several villages including Chinatown, As Matuis, Susupe/Chalan Kanoa, and Tanapag.
Eric Atalig, block captain in Susupe/Kanoa, said they are also getting involved in cleanups and disposing junk cars in villages.
