Responding police officers confer as one of the cars damaged by a motorist is towed from the parking lot of the United States Courthouse in Gualo Rai on Thursday.
THE Department of Public Safety arrested a motorist who rammed his vehicle into several cars parked at the District Court for the NMI on Thursday morning.
The suspect, according to a witness who requested anonymity, was being pulled over by a police vehicle for a traffic infraction but did not stop.
The resulting car chase ended in the parking lot of the federal court.
Some police officers were injured, and several vehicles were damaged because of the incident, Variety learned.
DPS’ public information officer, Police Sgt. Fred Sato, said: “As soon as I’m provided the information, I will send out an official press statement.”
Variety also learned that the federal court remained open after the incident and no court staff was in danger.
