According to director/producer Galvin Deleon Guerrero, the story revolves around Zero, a geek, who wants to have a date with the prom queen, Amanda Diamond. With the help of his friends Cicero and Diana, they rallied all the geeks, freaks, nerds and loners on campus to campaign against the jock, Richard Richards.
“The story has a local flavor to it…it is more of an islander story [compared to other movies with the same story line],” said Kevin Bautista who played the role of Richard Richards.
Deleon Guerrero said the story was based on his “semi-autobiography” but the script was a collaboration of the whole production team and it is “the best of all John Hughes’ movies put together in one flick.”
“There’s some really cool plot twist to it…it is emulating and fully unique,” said Deleon Guerrero.
The production team conducted a press conference yesterday at the American Memorial Park Visitor Center Theater for a preview and sneak peak of the film.
They invited everyone to “go to Hollywood Theaters on May 25 and experience going through high school once again.”
Deleon Guerrero said tickets will be sold at five dollars each and is available at Mt. Carmel School. “The cast and crew will start selling tickets on Friday,” he added.
“Don’t be afraid to be yourself,” this is what Victor Cabrera who played Zero said about what the audience can learn about the film.
Mae Nakajima, who portrayed the role of Diana, said she wants the audience to learn to express who they are and not limit themselves.
The production of “Zero to Hero” began last January and filming was done from February to May. The production was composed of 40-45 Mt. Carmel School Theater Club members.
This is the second original film produced by the Theater Club of Mt. Carmel School. The first was “Caesar,” shown three years ago.
