Murder victim had multiple wounds

THE Department of Public Safety yesterday disclosed that the murdered poker attendant suffered multiple wounds.

DPS spokesman Pete C. Muna, however, said investigators did not specify the type of wounds and the particular parts of the body that received the injuries.

But Muna said it was not a gun shooting incident.

Police identified the victim as 33-year-old Mostofa Faruk Parves based on an identification card recovered from the body.

The manager of Candi’s Poker told Variety on Wednesday that the victim was Mustafa Fruck. But another poker cashier informed Variety that the victim was his friend, Mustafa Shamim. The cashier, however, said he believed that the victim used three different names.

Muna said the detectives were continuing their investigation “around the clock and looking into the information that they have so far.”

“Our investigators are really working hard looking into this incident and again I would like to encourage anyone who may have information or who may have witnessed this brutal crime to please call us at 664-9042 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272. You need not reveal your identity,” Muna said.

The Crime Stoppers Hotline is offering up to $1,000 cash reward to anyone who could provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

Police said the victim was found dead at Candi’s Poker in Tanapag on Wednesday morning when the manager went to check the establishment.

The manager said he found the victim lying in a pool of blood in the cashier’s room. He said the suspects stole an estimated $1,500 cash.

Investigators believed that the victim was beaten up during the robbery.
