First, the new court seal provides more security for the court and the public. Prior to the new seal, there were several court seals and, thus, differentiating official and unofficial documents was troublesome.
Second, the new court seal affords the court uniformity, as it will be used in the Yap courtroom, on court letterhead, and as the official clerk of court seal.
Finally, the new seal is relevant to the culture of Yap, as it depicts stone money and has the year the Yap State Court was certified (1982) to perform its responsibilities.
