Sebastian Deleon Guerrero will be responsible for the planning and coordinating of services and activities that the federally funded program offers to its participants, such as workshops, seminars, information sessions and field trips.
He will be responsible for providing emotional, social and academic guidance to students while assisting them in the areas of registration and financial aid.
“I am really happy to be back at SSS,” Deleon Guerrero said. “I look forward to playing an even bigger role in the students’ success as their counselor.”
Deleon Guerrero served as head tutor at SSS from 2000 to 2001 and at the Educational Talent Search from 2001 to 2002. These positions he managed to keep while pursuing his bachelor’s degree at NMC.
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome back Sebastian,” acting NMC interim President Bobbie Merfalen said.
“I am sure that he will play a big role in the success of SSS participants,” she added
Deleon Guerrero graduated with an associate degree in liberal arts with high honors in 2002 and completed the requirements for the bachelor’s degree in elementary education the following year, all the while maintaining a spot on the NMC Dean’s List.
After graduating, he went on to teach grade school for the Public School System.
