Villagomez-Bier served as secretary of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs be fore coming back to NMC last year.
According to the NMC president’s office, “To protect the privacy of employees, we do not comment on specific personnel matters.”
NMC said Leo Pangelinan, the director of its counseling programs and services division, is the acting dean of student services.
As acting dean, Pangelinan is responsible for overseeing “various divisions that administer vital programs and services that pro mote the students’ educational advancement and enrichment.”
These programs and services include admissions and records, library services, career development programs, student leadership, and federal programs like the Upward Bound Program and the Educational Talent Search program.
In an e-mail dated Oct. 25, Villagomez-Bier told Variety that she was on sick leave and referred all questions to Fernandez’s office.
Villagomez-Bier, Variety learned, is on an “administrative leave.”
