NMC regents evaluate college president’s performance

The seven regents, during a special meeting on Dec. 30-31, turned in their evaluation to NMC Chairman Charles Cepeda, who is traveling with Fernandez this week to meet with the accrediting commission in the U.S.

The regents, however, did not discuss how they “graded” Fernandez’s performance.

A former Guam lawmaker who also served as vice president of the University of Guam, Fernandez was chosen by the board to succeed Antonio Deleon Guerrero who retired in 2006.

NMC didn’t have a chief executive officer for eight months until Fernandez was named president on April 27, 2007.

She has a two-year contract that is subject to the regents’ annual evaluation.

The board approved an $80,000 annual salary for Fernandez on top of an $800 monthly housing allowance.
