NMC says it receives high marks in registration survey

“We are very happy with the results and look forward to using them to continuously improve the services we provide students at registration,” she added.

NMC, she said, has been gradually upgrading every aspect of its student services “to ensure that our students undergo a thorough, hassle-free registration experience.”

133 students participated in the survey, answering questions regarding the availability of registration information, student orientations, placement testing, academic advising, admissions services, financial aid services, finance office services, bookstore services, registration days and hours, and course availability.

Only a few students expressed dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the registration, such as the scheduled dates and times for the placement tests and the high prices of books at the college’s bookstore.

Students suggested that NMC should advertise more and earlier prior to registration.

Eight of the 133 gave the registration process a “poor” rating; 52, “excellent”; 58, “good”; and 14, “fair.”

NMC’s finance office got the highest number of favorable votes with 69 students rating it as “excellent” and 45 saying they received good service.

Most students were satisfied with the academic advising but suggested that advisors need to be more accurate and informative.

The students also suggested setting up appointments with advisors and meeting individually to ensure that students were informed properly.

Regarding the placement tests, majority of the respondents noted the limited space in the classroom.

“Placement scheduling also became a problem when certain students could not make it on any scheduled dates due to time conflicts. The conflicts applied mostly toward students who were fulltime workers,” the report said.
