NMC staffers go on Managaha retreat

Although staff members interact with each other during staff and faculty assemblies, maintaining good communication is still a challenge, he told Variety.

On June 4, he said 38 staff members of NMC’s Division of Students Services participated in a retreat on Managaha.

The retreat was intended to organize members of the division into a cohesive, supportive team, Pangelinan said.

“At least once every year, we bring all division staff together to communicate the importance of our work, recognize our achievements, and communicate future challenges and opportunities that are ahead of us,” he added.

“We deliberately do something fun for ourselves away from our working environment to encourage renewal and reflection.”

He said  he finds the retreat useful in strengthening inter-departmental and individual working relationships.

The Division of Student Services includes the  TRiO Upward Bound Program, the TRiO Student Support Services, the TRiO Educational Talent Search Program, the College Access Challenge Project, the Career Center, the Testing Center, Service Learning, Counseling Programs and Services, the Associated Students of NMC, the Office of Student Activities and Leadership, the  Office of Financial Aid, the Office of Admissions and Records, and Library Programs and Services.

Part of the half-day retreat included team building activities, a potluck lunch and networking.

There were recognition awards and prizes presented to a number of employees.

“We consider student services one of our top priorities,” NMC interim President Lorraine T. Cabrera said.

“It is important that we recognize the hard work and dedication of our staff and management who work vigorously everyday to cater to students’ needs,” she said. “This retreat is our show of appreciation.”

Courtesy trips to and from Managaha  were provided by Tasi Tours and friends of the college who captained personal vessels.
