“My office is coordinating with the Academic Programs and Services in working on a plan for the spring semester,” she said.
NMC is now considering online registration, she added.
Right now the college offers a “semi-online” registration process which involves filling out forms and the computer encoding of subjects.
Last Monday, students waited in line for up to six hours to register.
Tenorio said the students should have sought NMC advisers prior to registration day to avoid waiting in line.
However, students preferred to consult advisers during the registration process, she added.
“Students are not aware of the procedure and are sometimes misinformed,” she said.
According to Tenorio, NMC will issue more notices regarding its registration procedures.
The advising procedure for a student takes time because it involves “one-on-one” discussions.
The discussions allow the adviser to know what courses will fit the student, Tenorio said.
NMC may also assign days for students to register.
“For example, students with surnames starting in ‘A’ will register on day 1 and so on,” she said.
Over 600 students registered on Monday and Tenorio expects NMC to have 1,200 or more students for the fall semester.
