NMI celebrates Thanksgiving

The line of costumers buying turkey and baked goods almost reached the parking lot.

Inside, the bake shop was jam-packed with people who were figuring out what food item to buy.

“This bakery is crowded like this every Thanksgiving Day,” a Garapan resident said.

He said he waited in line for about 25 minutes.

The employees of R&B construction gathered around cans of beer and barbecue at  American Memorial Park early yesterday  morning.

One of them said he was spending Thanksgiving with his co-workers to avoid homesickness.

“I miss my children back in the Philippines but I have to accept that I need to work here for their future,” he said.

Despite the occasional downpour, children and their families spent the day swimming in the waters off Micro Beach.

Len, a student of Garapan Elementary School, said she was happy to spend Thanksgiving with her mom who is usually busy during week days.
