Now that the tree has been decorated and trimmed with holiday lights, CNMI first lady Josie Fitial is inviting the community to mark the beginning of the holiday season when she switches on the lights on Friday, Nov. 26, at 6:30 p.m.
The First Lady’s Vision Foundation and the Office of Women’s Affairs also expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Department of Public Works and most especially to the Department of Corrections for providing a handful of hardworking inmates.
The inmates were very happy to help with the construction of the tree and viewed it as an opportunity to give back to the community this holiday season.
Aside from the tree-trimming, the parking lot stalls were also spruced up and re-painted. The giant Christmas tree is accompanied by a beautiful nativity scene.
“We’re very pleased that the project is completed. We hope the community will find the spirit of the holiday season whenever they visit the tree,” Mrs. Fitial said.
