No contaminated eggs in NMI

He said the department was alerted about the report that many people in the U.S. got sick after consuming eggs linked to salmonella  poisoning.

“As of today we haven’t found any contaminated egg,” he assured the public.

A concerned citizen from Tinian was worried about the eggs imported by local stores from the states.

“Because food shipments take so long to get here, they’ll have to keep checking the eggs…and not just the ones that are in the stores now,” the resident said, as she urged the Bureau of Environmental Health to conduct inspections.

In the U.S., the salmonella outbreak has resulted in a massive recall of eggs.

Diaz said the Bureau of Environmental Health inspectors are doing their best to ensure that eggs sold by vendors and wholesalers are safe.

“If we do find contaminated eggs we will notify the public immediately,” he added.

The Department of Public Health is expected to issue an official report about the salmonella poisoning from eggs and the result of its inspection.

The Washington Post reported on Aug. 19 that over 380 million eggs affected by the recall were packaged under the brand names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Sun Valley, Lund, Dutch Farms, Kemps, Glenview, Bayview, James Farms, Nulaid and Pacific Coast.
