THE Commonwealth Utilities Corporation trouble desk received 96 calls during a 58-minute power outage on Saturday, May 24, CUC Executive Director Kevin Watson said.
On that day, at around 6:23 p.m., CUC experienced a power outage on Feeder 4 (Sadog Tasi, Capital Hill, As Akina [Wireless], Mt. Tapochau, Talafofo, I-Denni, Agag, As Teo, Papago, and Kagman) and Kiya 1 (As Terlaje, Fina Sisu, Kannat Tabla, San Vicente, Dandan, southern side of Papago/the Botanical Garden, Isley Field, CPA/Saipan International Airport, Obyan, eastern part of As Perdido).
Many residents tried calling the CUC trouble desk, but their calls went unanswered.
“We understand the concern regarding the recent power outage and apologize for any inconvenience caused,” Watson said.
“Our Call Center staff diligently managed and answered a total of 96 calls during the 58-minute outage period,” he added. “We are committed to providing timely assistance to all our customers, and while we strive to answer every call promptly, there are times when call volumes may exceed our capacity. We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding as we work to address each inquiry.”
According to Watson, CUC provides a dedicated hotline at (670) 236-4333 and actively updates its social media pages to keep the community informed about utility outages.
“We encourage customers to utilize these channels for the latest information, which helps keep phone lines open for those with urgent concerns or emergencies. Your cooperation makes a difference, and we thank you for your continued support,” he added.
CUC did not say what caused the power outage.
