Originally from La Grande, Oregon, Ogumuro arrived in the CNMI in 1982 and worked for the Dr. Torres hospital which was still up and running at that time. Since then, she has earned a master’s degree, married and earned a good reputation for her hard and honest work.
She was nominated for the award by a fellow social worker on Guam.
She started working with Karidat in 2002.
She was given the award late last month and the staff of Karidat is very proud of her accomplishments and are glad she is being recognized for her hard work.
Karidat is a local non-profit social service organization that assist people of all economic levels in the community to address issues arising from personal or family problems, external circumstances, or intra personal conflicts.
One of its programs is Guma Esperansa, or House of Hope, a women’s shelter.
