‘Old Man’ arrested for ‘ice’ trafficking in Fina Sisu

Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona retained the $30,000 cash bail she earlier imposed on Le Xing Chen, also known as “Old Man” who was arrested on April 30 in San Antonio.

Chen was in the custody of the Department of Corrections during his initial court appearance yesterday.

Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Dockter represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller appeared for Chen.

Manglona denied an oral request for the defendant’s release and granted Miller’s oral request to be relieved from the case.

Chen’s accomplice, Yuhua Wang, 33, was arrested on March 1, 2010, and was required to post $6,000 cash bail or 20 percent of $30,000.

Associate Judge David Wiseman granted the bail modification filed by the Public Defender’s Officer on behalf of Wang, who was in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

The remaining $24,000 must be issued as an unsecured or appearance bond, the judge said.

During yesterday’s bail modification hearing for Wang, Assistant Attorney General Eli Golob represented the government while Miller served as Wang’s counsel.

Wang has denied the charge of one count of trafficking of controlled substance, and one count of illegal possession of controlled substance.

Authorities, through a cooperating source, purchased $200 worth of “ice” from the defendants.
