OMB assures timely submission of budget

Almost all of the government departments and agencies met the April 5 deadline for the submission of their budget proposals, according to Jack Blanco, the person-in-charge for the review of all requests for reprogramming and personnel actions at the Office of Management and Budget.

He said the administration’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2003 is likely to be submitted before the May 1 deadline.

OMB expects to complete the filing and other related tasks by April 22, he said. Once compiled, the budget package will be reviewed by the governor’s council whose members include the mayors of Rota, Tinian and Saipan, and the executive director of Carolian affairs.

“If there are no changes, we can submit the budget directly to the Legislature,” Blanco said.
