Over 400 expected to join international cleanup on Rota

ICC coordinator William T. Pendergrass told the Variety that the number of participants in the cleanup activities keeps on growing each year.

“When we started the coastal cleanup in 2007, over a hundred people joined us. Last year, the number grew to over 300, and this year, we are expecting more people to join us,” Pendergrass said.

The location for the cleanup station on Rota will be transferred from the Pinatang Island to the Roundhouse.

There will be another station on Tinian for the cleanup there.

On Saipan, over 200 volunteers and 10 groups have already signed up to join the international cleanup as of last week but organizers are expecting more individuals to signup and join the cleanup on Sept. 19.

For more information, Rota residents can contact Pendergrass or MJ Tansacan at 532-0466 or fax 532-1000.

Saipan and Tinian residents can request for a sign-up sheet from Lisa Huynh Eller, Olivia Tebuteb or Carlos Ketebengang at 664-8500 or e-mail  [email protected].
