P&A, mayor’s office start tree cutting, removal operation

Three personnel from the mayor’s office and  five workers from P&A cut down the rotten flame tree near the Oleai pavilion.

“This tree is posing danger to the pedestrian. It is very dangerous,” Mayor Donald G. Flores said.

Last month, Flores and P&A president Kim Hong Kyun signed a memorandum of agreement for the removal and trimming of trees on island.

P&A has a shredding machine, a wood mixer and a sawmill.

Ho Joon Joo, P&A general manager, said they hired three local residents for their operation. They are Joshua Santos, Roy Celes and Luis Cepeda.

“I admire their attitude. They always come to work early and are very diligent and responsible,” he said.

He said P&A  will continue to hire local workers for their other programs.

Yesterday, Flores said he will be collaborating with agriculture consultant Sid Cabrera in identifying the rotten trees on island.

Cabrera has a list of these  trees, including those that pose danger to the power lines of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

The mayor said they will also make an inventory of all rotten trees and will continue to accept requests from community members for the removal or trimming of trees.

The P&A Corporation provided the manpower and equipment in the tree cutting and removal process.

Flores said the corporation will recycle green waste, the product of which is returned to consumers for a variety of uses that are environmentally safe and promote use of renewal resources.
