Palacios out on bail

Palacios is scheduled to return to Superior Court on Nov. 14 for his arraignment.

During his bail hearing on Monday afternoon, Chief Prosecutor Michael Ernest told the court the government will be filing additional charges against the lawmaker.

Last Friday afternoon, local authorities arrested Palacios on two counts of trafficking and possession of “ice.”

Through a Department of Public Safety cooperating source, CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Criminal Investigations Bureau conducted a monitored and controlled buy-walk operations against Palacios, and separately bought a total of $200 worth of “ice” from the Precinct 2 lawmaker.

Authorities said they monitored Palacios driving out of the residence of Ignacio Aldan Leon Guerrero Sr.  in Chalan Kanoa and returning after the drug deals.

Leon Guerrero was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for “ice” and marijuana trafficking last May.

The house’s caretaker is Cunyan Ma, Leon Guerrero’s girlfriend who was arrested for “ice” trafficking last April.
